Liquefied Petroleum Gas, or LPG, which is the most common cooking fuel in India is a petroleum product whose price is always dependent on the price of crude oil. Vast populations of people in rural India do not have access to a LPG connection nor can they afford it. In some of these regions, grid power is also unreliable rendering electrical coil heaters of no use. In contrast, solar cookers are highly cost-effective in the long run; are affordable; and easily portable enabling quick and hassle-free cooking on the go.
