SINGLE METAL BUSHES are normally made of PHOSPHORUS BRONZE, BRONZE, COPPER etc on to which the principal bearing material is cast. These are used to minimize the friction between two moving parts. A bearing surface has to be strong to withstand high oil filling pressures.  It needs to be hard to minimize wear and prevent failure from fatigue.
