‘silk king’ is a world's first new biological product
for suppression of grasserie disease
in the silkworm, bombyx mori l.
''silkworm diseases pose major threat in silkworm cocoon production. among them nuclear polyhedrosis or grasserie disease is most common and causes considerable cocoon crop loss especially during summer and rainy seasons. the disease is caused by an occluded virus, bmnpv. preventive and curative methods are being followed for the management of grasserie disease during silkworm rearing. a new biological product (botanical based, eco & user-friendly) developed by ms jaas remedies, mumbai has been tested by c.s.r.&t.i., mysore laboratory and found effective against grasserie disease in silkworm. under bmnpv inoculated conditions, the suppression of grasserie disease up to 62.50% was obtained against control.
the application of this biological product also resulted in higher survival under normal conditions of rearing with no adverse effect on cocoon characters.
method of application:
mix the product in clean water @ 40 g l
sprinkle spray the above solution on mulberry leaves shoots @ 70 mlkg,
air-dry the sprinkled leavesshoots.
feed air-dried mulberry leavesshoots to silkworm as second feed of ii, iii, iv and v instars.
special indication:
application of the product should be taken up immediately the notice of occurrence of grasserie disease.''
