The company manufactures superior quality decorative paints, auto finishes, wood finishes, architectural finishes, industrial paints and painting solutions.Sheenlac Paints is the flagship company of the Sphinax group of companies based in Chennai, India.Some of the group’s other constituents are Sheenworld Services, Sheenlac Noroo coatings, Sheenlac Paint Lanka ( Pvt) Ltd, Sphinax Agrotech (Private) Limited and Sphinax Organic and Research Private Limited.

The company was founded in 1962 by a young entrepreneur named Mr. John Peter. It started off as a pioneer in wood finishes and the brand “ Sheenlac” is a household name in most parts of India. Sheenlac is already a very strong player in the southern part of India, and has aggressive plans to grow market share in the North, West and Eastern regions of India. The company has focused FY 14 as the year of expansion and brand building. Sheenlac has 26 branch offices in India covering the entire breadth of the country. Sheenlac produces its products from its own state of the art manufacturing plants located in Tamil Nadu. The factories have a combined capacity of producing 80,000 KL of products in a year. Some of main products of the company are: Emulsions, Distempers, Enamels, Wall and wood putty, Primers, Fillers, Sealers, Thinners and paint removers. In the highly competitive Rs 26,000 crore Indian paint market, Sheenlac is in the 8th position with a market share of 11% in the Southern part of India. Sheenlac has an ambitious goal of becoming a USD 150 M company by the year 2016. The company’s goals are aligned with the vision to be amongst the top 5 paint companies in India by the year 2016.
