typically, sewage treatment involves three stages, called primary, secondary and tertiary treatment. First, the solids are alienated from the wastewater stream. Then dissolved biological matter is increasingly converted into a solid accumulation by using native, water-borne bacteria. Finally, the organic solids are neutralized then willing of or re-used, and the treated water may be clean chemically or physically the final effluent can be discharge into a stream, river, bay, lagoon or swamp, or it can be used for the dissimilar non-critical purposes.

Aerobic form leads to total oxidation of organic matter to carbon dioxide, water, nitrogen etc. Thus eliminating odor problem caused due to partial oxidation.
