Supporting 12 Gbps data rates in server-based storage applications, Molex’s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Small Form Factor (SFF) connectors are designed to meet the increasing challenges of data speeds, drive performance, storage density and scalability requirements. Molex is a leading contributor with the SFF Committee and is actively developing prototype halogen-free and lead-free SAS-3 backplane interconnect solutions to meet the demands of high-speed enterprise storage and device manufacturers. These SAS-3 backplane SMT connectors retain existing SFF footprints while increasing data transmission speed to 12 Gbps to meet high Signal Integrity (SI) requirements.
Molex has also released U.2 (SASPCIe) right-angle plugs and vertical host receptacles that meet 12 Gbps SAS and 8 GTs U.2 (PCI Express) speeds suitable for Solid State Drive (SSD) applications. These interconnects combine the latest enhancements of SAS-3 and U.2 technologies.
Molex offers a wide range of vertical and right-angle SAS receptacles based on earlier SFF specifications. These are available in a variety of PCB mounting configurations.
