SEPERATION TEST APPARATUS

The separation of modifier and bitumen during Hot storage and cold static condition is evaluated by comparing the ring and ball softening point of the top and bottom samples taken from a conditioned, sealed tube of polymer modified bitumen. The conditioning consist of placing a sealed tube of modified bitumen in a vertical position at 163 +/- 5 deg C in an oven and at 6.7 +/- 5 deg C in a freezer for specified time.

• Rack, capable of supporting the 3 aluminium tubes in vertical condition in the Oven and freezer.
• Spatula and Hammer.
• 20cm dia fine sieve of 600 micron mesh.
