In situations where safety may be at stake, the replay function can be very helpful. In day-to-day operations, the user requires that the VHF radio is easy to operate. In order to obtain this, the SAILOR RT5022 has been simplified and the functionalities most often used are operated by large tactile buttons and knobs and a large separate display. The large display makes it easier for the operator to identify the settings, even from wide angels and at distance. The DSC functions and functions that are not used on a daily basis have been separated and are shown in a graphical LCD display. This helps the user to stay in control, also in hasty situations when the control of the communication is essential. All text in the display is in red to reduce the disturbance to the night vision on the bridge. The SAILOR RT5022 also introduces a sleep mode function that further reduces light on the bridge and thereby improves the night vision. The sleep mode function blacks out the graphical display when not activated. It is easily activated again by simply pressing on a button. To reduce the reflection from external light (e.g. sunlight) in the displays, a special marine AR (Anti-Reflection) filter has been
