Staining procedure for gram's stain : Prepare thin smear, dry in air and fix by gentle heat Flood with gram's crystal violet for 1 minute Wash with water and flood with gram's iodine ( item code no. 12108 ) for 1 min Wash with water and decolorize with acetone LR ( item code no. 11018 ) until no further violet colour comes off Wash with water and counter stain with safranin stain ( item code no. 13204 ) for about 1/2 min Wash with water, dry and observe
