For gensets without acoustic enclosures the room needs to go through sound proof treatment, the treatment includes many technical considerations:
noise control
noise produce by d. G. Set is combined effect of, noise produce by its reciprocating & rotary parts, combustion, exhaust gas flow and cooling air flow resulting sound contains hundreds of measurable harmonics extending over the entire audio-frequency range, high pressure levels.
noise is controlled by isolation, absorption & lengthening of transmission path.
noise due to reciprocating and rotary parts and combustion is control by closing the d.g. Set and its acoustic treatment.
noise by exhaust gas is reducing through residential silencer by reducing the exhaust gas pressure to required level.
noise by cooling air is control through acoustic louvres, hood and acoustic treated ducting. The acoustic louvres absorb the sound when air flow through them.
sound proofing
the soundproofing of d.g. Set is done in such a way that it reduces the noise of d.g. Set to minimum without affecting the performance of d.g.set.
noise reduction is done by absorbing the sound closing the d.g.set, except opening required for fresh air inflow, hot sir out flow by using the sound absorbing material and by lengthening the path of sound travel from the opening.
acoustic treatment of room
acoustic treatment of room is done by paneling of g.i. Channel of suitable size are filled with two layers of 50 mm thick 9664 density rock mineral wool, covered with r. P. Tissue paper and expended metal on wall. The thickness and density is very important in controlling the sound, as the rock wool is used for absorption of sound.
