Contact SupplierThis is the extinct variety of the Indian Bael tree also known as Maha Vilvam because of its unique arrangement of leaves that are produced in series of triplets .It may vary from a 7 leaf Vilva to a rare 21 leaf Maha Vilva in a full grown mature tree depending upon its wild habitat.This is a not a cultivated species of the Bael Tree but can be tracked along the foothill jungles of Central Himalaya, the western Ghats,.M.P. and Orissa.All Bael leaves are very dear to Lord Shiva .By great fortune if one has access to the maha vilva leaves one should offer them with great devotion to Shiva , who is very pleased with the devotee and fulfills all his desires.
Its botanical name is Naringi Crenulata, an important medicinal plant belonging to the familty Rutaceae .This Maha Vilvam plant has a great medicinal importance in ayurveda texts and holds great significance in our ancient scriptures.It is commonly known as the Mahavilvam or magavilvam in Tamil .
