The KDS-071 is a smart sensor that measure rain using the time tested tipping bucket mechanism in combination with modern electronics. It is a precision instrument for the measurement of rainfall accumulation and/or rate. The sensor has a provision for routing the reed closure as per the output, if desired. As it uses advanced micro-electronics, it sits on the same bus as the other sensors and thus does not require a separate input for the purpose.
Electronics also imparts a higher level of precision to the sensor’s operations with optional calibration and rate compensation. Also, mathematical correction for bucket volume errors due to varying rainfall rate is provided. The sensor is designed for outdoor deployment in an unobstructed, open, outdoor area. It can be integrated into a weather station and is also used for flood studies/alerts, catchment measurement, agricultural & horticultural applications, and runoff monitoring.
