Contact SupplierThe KDS-501 Sensor measures solar radiation in automatic weather station environments. It measures direction independent total radiation or global radiation i.e., the total direct and diffuse radiation reaching the Earth's surface. The sensor is based on a multi-element thermopile, with a two-stage filter system that determines the spectral band of energy measured. It absorbs all solar radiation, has a flat spectrum, and has a near-perfect cosine response.
A quartz dome and a planar filter isolate the radiation thermopile from environmental effects. These limit the spectral response while preserving the 180 degrees field of view and shield the thermopile sensor from convection. The structure of the sensor is thus conducive to easy thermal equilibrium. This Pyranometer is used in agricultural, meteorological, and renewable energy studies climate control in greenhouses, and many industrial applications.
