Contact SupplierPropylene Glycol (IP/ USP), also called 1,2-propanediol or propane-1,2-diol, is an organic compound (a diol or double alcohol) with formula C3H8O2. It is a colorless, nearly odorless, clear, viscous liquid with a faintly sweet taste, hygroscopic and miscible with water, acetone, and chloroform.
Propylene Glycol finds its application in food and beverage, feed, cosmetics and pharmaceutical applications. Propylene Glycol USP/EP (pharmaceutical grade) is also used to dissolve flavoring in drinks, to keep animal feed moist, to homogeneously emulsify oily and watery elements in creams, sprays and liquids, or as solvent (excipient) for the active ingredients in medicines.
