Trimethoprim & Sulphamethoxol are active ingredients of Primethro which is an antibiotic that is used to treat multiple types of bacterial infections i.e. bladder, kidney, respiratory, urine infection, ear infections etc.  It's used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs), such as cystitis. It works most effective in acute and uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infection caused by susceptible bacteria. Occasionally, Primethro used to treat other types of infections such as chest infections and acne. It also treats traveler’s diarrhea, shigellosis and pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia. It works by stopping the growth of the bacteria as well as prevent those that is causing infection. It treats only bacterial infection and not the viral infections such as common cold or flu. It is use as monotherapy for some infections as well as combined with other drugs if necessary as depends upon infections. 

Usage:  Primethro is an antibiotic which is used to treat bacterial infections of Urinary Tract, Kidney Infection & Ear Infection. It kills bacteria as well as stops growth of infection thus it reduces infection. Dosage of the medicine is based upon patient’s age, weight, medical condition and severity.  This is prescribed medicine which has to follow as per doctor’s suggestion. Do not skip or discontinue dose even if symptoms go away within treatment period. It may cause risk of infection that is resistant to medication.

What happened if any dose missed out?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember but do not take if next dose is planned in near time. Do not even take two doses at same time. Let the dose missed out otherwise it may affect badly on your health.

What are the things to avoid while taking this medicine?

Avoid ingredients which contain propylene glycol which is used in processed foods, soft drinks, and medicines.

Can this medicine cause sunburn?

Yes, this medicine causes sunburn very easily. Avoid going under direct sunlight as well as tanning. Use protective cloths and sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) at outdoors.

Does is safe to use during pregnancy?
