PEM HYDROGEN GENERATORS :
85% of the energy consumed globally is provided by fossil fuels, namely coal, oil and natural gas. Consuming fossil fuels produces green house gases and other byproducts, causing climate change and air pollution. The growing demand of energies requires a rapid shift from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, biomass etc. In this context, Hydrogen is proposed as a secondary source of energy.
PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) water electrolysis system / process is an endothermic process and electricity is applied as the energy source. The water electrolysis reaction is thermodynamically possible at potential higher than 1.23V vs RHE( Reversible Hydrogen Electrode). The thermoneutral potential at which the cell can operate adiabatically is 1.48V vs RHE. The PEM Hydrogen generators operate at potential over 1.48V vs RHE and heat is generated by the reaction.
