Curcuma aromatica Salisb. mentioned as ‘Vanaharidra’ in Ayurveda. The rhizome of the plant is rich in alkaloids, flavonoids, curcuminoids, tannins and terpenoids which are reported to be the reasons for its various pharmacological properties. The plant has anti-cancerous, anti-obesity, anti-acne, anti-tussive, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic and wound healing properties.
