Attar is a natural perfume (fragrance/flavor) in which ingredients such as flowers, spices, herbs or barks are distilled over a base oil using hydro distillation(deg-bhupka) process. This method is said to be almost 5000 years old and there has been no change in the process since then. Reports suggest this is the same process which was used during the Indus Valley Civilization.
