As per National Horticulture Board, during 2014-15 India produced 86,602 million metric tons of fruits and 169.478 million metric tons of vegetables.
India is the largest producer of Ginger and Okra amongst vegetables and ranks second in production of Potatoes, Onions, Cauliflowers, Brinjal, Cabbages etc., Mangoes, Walnuts, Grapes, Bananas, Pomegranates account for larger portion of fruits exported by the country while Onions, Okra, Bitter Gourd, Green Chilies, Mushrooms and Potatoes contribute largely to the Vegetable Export Basket.

Availability of papaya, all citrus fruits like oranges, sweet lime, strawberries, apples, guava, lemons, mushrooms, cabbages, turnip, winter squash, potatoes, beets, carrots, leafy vegetables, pomegranates, pineapples, custard apple, asparagus, green beans, radish, cauliflowers, spinach and mustard greens are good for the consumer during Winters.
