Composition of Generic Ondansetron Tablets: Each uncoated tablet contains: Ondansetron hydrochloride USP equivalent to Ondansetron - 4 mg Description: Ondansetron is an oral and parenteral antiemetic agent. It is the first selective serotonin blocking agent to be marketed. Mechanism of Action: Ondansetron may have central and/or peripheral action. Ondansetron preferentially blocks the serotonin 5-HT3 receptors. Indications and Dosage: For nausea/vomiting and nausea/vomiting prophylaxis: Adults: 8 mg three times per day. Children: 4 mg three times per day. For chemotherapy-induced nausea/vomiting (CINV) prophylaxis associated with highly emetogenic cancer chemotherapy: Adults: single 24 mg For postoperative nausea/vomiting (PONV) prophylaxis: Adults: 16 mg as a single dose 1 hour before anesthesia induction.
