Off Track Tamper Machine is a small size hydraulic tamping machine characterized by compact construction which make it extremely handy and extremely useful

long service life. It derives hybrid nature from construction and working efficiency that lies between light On-Track Tamper and Hand Held Off-track Tamper.

It can be used to pack the track ballast under PRC sleepers at a significantly higher speed with much less effort or fatigue to an operator as compared to typical hand-held off-track tamper.

It is principally intended for the smaller section of track under construction in railway yards, depots, and sidings.

The machine is robust and rugged by design and is off-Trackable, to work without traffic block with normal track protection i.e. Off-tracking device can be used to remove the tamper from the track in the event of track usage by other construction teams (trolleys/railroad vehicles).

Tamper uses the hydraulic cylinder for lifting and lowering of tamping arms and the double column for guiding direction. Tamper consist of two tamping units, that are used in conjunction for tamping operation. The tamping tool is made of hard steel for prolonged life. The machine is equipped with emergency devices such as hand press, oil pump, and safety lock, to work safely and reliably. The machine is easy to operate and low maintenance by design. The tamper is most suitable for first second through packing on sections ranging from few kilometres to up to 100 kilometres or more.

The machine is capable of packing 100 sleepers per group per effective hour. Generally, another team works ahead of this tamper for track alignment and lifting.
