The "PIN MILL" is a high-speed dual rotor mill used for rapid crushing of varied types of materials. In the following industries :-

The extremely high-speed rotor mill enables crushing of tough or ductile, temperature sensitive samples. Even slightly greasy or damp samples can be crushed.
The stainless-steel rotor with case hardened Splined, square or round pins are used, the Splined pins increases the ventilation effect and the particles are ground more finely. Corresponding to that, the grinding chamber is also normally manufactured from stainless steel to avoid wear down due very high turbulence of air with product and also easy dissipation of heat to atmosphere. The Splined grinding insert of especially hardened stainless steel used to prevent wear”.
WORKING PRINCIPLE AND GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PIN MILL
The rapid crushing effect of the high-speed Rotor mill results from the extremely high speed of the Rotor & Stator, which is made of rust-free, hardened steel. With a peripheral speed of up to 125 m sec-1, at the outer pin row as both Rotor & Stator rotates in opposite direction, this result in a relative speed of 240m sec-1. The impact energy is in the very high range as that of pin mills, which are known for their high grinding performance. The feeding of material and discharge from the pin mill chamber is under the vacuum through Pin Mill system connected to the Pin Mill from its bottom discharge, ground sample is collected in a rust-free collecting basin.
The grinding material sample is fed into the grinding chamber via a hollow stainless tube through the shaft at non-open able side and is projected outwards from the pulley. Here the product comes into contact with the high-speed splined pins impact. Product is then crushed and discharged through the sieving ring with a defined grain size into the bottom hopper.
Both shafts is provided with cooling water jacket with arrangement of water circulation through external source to carry away heat generated by high speed bearings.
