aeolus leads the industry in the development of new ozone advancements and applications. One of such applications is in the breweries.
in brewing & winery industry, sanitation plays a critical role. Historically, breweries have used chlorine (and/or other halogen chemicals), heat (hot water and/or steam) and acids for sanitation, but these methods have drawbacks and restrictions like high energy cost of generating heat, the harmful by-products associated with halogen chemicals and safety hazards of acids have made their use problematic.
many brewers have chosen to completely eliminate the use of chlorine and other halogenated compounds to avoid the formation of aromatic halogenated hydrocarbons which can impact flavours.
ozone is the most efficient disinfection agent available and replaces traditional chemicals such as hypochlorite, peracetic acid (paa) and hydrogen peroxide. It offers at least 20 times higher microbial inactivation potential which means that both concentration and disinfection time can be significantly reduced and is very gentle on materials.
ozone is produced in-situ and on demand only and utilizes oxygen as its only raw material. After use it quickly and naturally decomposes into oxygen, leaving no chemical by-products. Ozone cannot and should not be stored which significantly reduces storage needs at the brewery.
application of ozone in the brewery
ozone is a single source organic sanitizer in the brewery. Its use allows the brewer to produce a better product through the control of spoilage organisms, mold and mildew in the brewery. Brewery applications include the following:
