Neoprene rubber gaskets (otherwise known as polychloroprene) exhibit good chemical inertia, and are commonly used in electrical installations and weather sealing applications. These joints are particularly suitable for use with water; be that salt or fresh water – although from drinking (potable) water it is better to use EPDM rubber. Remember that as a general rule you should select the thinnest material possible for your application.
