Selection Criteria :

• Selecting an appropriate type of booth depends on article size, production, type of paint, its consumption, type of application & number of operators etc.
• Normally Dry Booth is recommended if paint consumption is low. Water Wash Booth is preferred when higher volume of paint demands higher paint killing. The Down Draft version is needed for large / heavy articles so as to coat article from all sides.

Water Wash :
Water wash type booth mainly suggested for high paint consumption. A continuous water flow is provided which collects the over-sprayed paint particles and removes from booth. Thus a clean & pollution free working is provided.

• Side Draft (SD).
• Down Draft (DD).

Side Draft Booth (SD) :
Construction :

• There are two chambers separated by water curtain wall. The front spray chamber is where the article is hooked and painter can stand. Backside of water curtain wall is Suction Chamber with baffles to separate paint particles from air/thinner mixture. On the top of this chamber there is a Blower and Motor. All Panels are manufactured in GI, powder coated having two colors viz. inside white and outside green.
• The most important thing is that the blower is mounted on a separate base to avoid vibrations from reaching to the paint chamber or the booth.

Working :

• The over sprayed paint is dragged towards the water flowing continuously. The turbulence is created below the screen & sludge is formed. The water and the sludge are separated in the filter at the bottom tank. The clean water is pumped again to the top tank and flows over the screen.
• The paint is sucked by the blower through the baffles wherein the paint particles are separated. The baffles are very effective in separation and can be removed, cleaned easily. Only clean air with thinner is left to atmosphere.
• It has more efficiency as compared to the dry booth. The sound level is as per industrial norms.

Advancement - Pressurized booth in Pressurized clean room.
Down Draft (DD) : These booths are recommended for large or heavy articles.
Construction :

• The water tanks are below ground level. Air suction is created downwards through the water tank. The suction chamber sucks the air/ paint mixture towards the water below, where the sludge is formed and is separated. At the baffles the remaining air particles are arrested.
• Turn table can be given in case if article rotation is desired for articles with less weight. Alternatively heavy article can be loaded from ground trolley or OH crane.

Working :
In this booth the air draft is in the downward direction. Articles are normally kept stationary and the operator moves around it. Over sprayed paint is dragged downwards with the air suction and the sludge is separated at the bottom tank. The clean water is pumped back again. The air is sucked through baffles and paint is separated from the air /paint mixture.
Advancement - Turn table in line with ground level for easy movement :
In this booth the air draft is in the downward direction. Articles are normally kept stationary and the operator moves around it. Over sprayed paint is dragged downwards with the air suction and the sludge is separated at the bottom tank. The clean water is pumped back again. The air is sucked through baffles and paint is separated from the air /paint mixture.

Dry Type :
The dry type booth is recommended when paint consumption is less or water is scarce. Metallic filters are used for arresting the over sprayed paint and give clean air output to atmosphere.

• Dry Back- Side Draft.
• Dry Bottom- Down Draft

Dry Back- Side Draft :
Construction : Booth is made up of 18 SWG materials, with GI powder coated sheets. The suction is taken at the back side of booth connected to the blower. Blower is placed on separate structure so that vibrations are not passed & noise is reduced. The metallic filters (male / female) types are provided at the back side of booth.
Additional filter for better paint separation can also be placed to release clean air into the atmosphere. Article turn table or rails can be used for material handling.
Working :
The over sprayed paint is sucked by exhaust blower through the filters at the back. The excess sprayed paint is arrested by filters & only air is exhausted to the atmosphere. These filters are easy to remove and clean. The velocity in the booth keeps the atmosphere very clean for working.
Dry Bottom- Down Draft :
Construction : The dry bottom booth is recommended for heavy or large articles. In this booth, metallic filters are provided to arrest the over sprayed paint. The booth employs metallic filters at the bottom. The complete structure of the booth is bolted.
Pressurization : For additional dust protection, pressurization can be provided. A plenum chamber is provided on the top of the booth. Pressurized air is pumped in the booth uniformly through this chamber.
Working : The article is stationary on the rail or the hook and operator will paint it by moving around. The air draft that is directed downwards will carry the over sprayed paint towards the bottom metallic filters. These filters can be removed easily by removing the frames for cleaning purpose.
Advancement in Booth :
Booth for very large articles - Introduction :
If an article is very big like cannons - 6m long and if a civil pit construction is not possible for down draft action, we have developed a sideward draft towards bottom of the booth panel.

Combination Model - Side Draft / Down Draft - Introduction :
Sometimes there is very critical production constraints like articles weigh form 5 tons upto 5 kg. So we have combined side draft booth with down draft to accommodate heavy production of different types of articles two types of conveyer are given along with ground trolley.
