The 38" (9.5 mm) square head provides a larger striking area and also prevents the punch from rolling off. The striking end is chamfered to prevent breakage. These can also be used to remove nails that have an exposed point. Place the recessed tip against the point of the nail and strike the punch with a hammer to back the nail out of the hole
