Coke is made by destructive distillation of a blend of selected Bituminous coals called Coking coal or Metallurgical coal.This is special high temperature ovens in the absence of oxygen COKE, consists principally of Carbon.

Metallurgical coke is made from low ash, low sulfur bituminous coal, with special coking properties, which is inserted into ovens and heated to 1000F to fuse fixed carbon and inherent ash and drive off most of the volatile matter. The final product is a nearly carbon source with sizes ranging from foundry coke to a coke breeze.Metallurgical coke is a carbon material resulting from the manufactured purification of multifarious blends of bituminous coal. bituminous coal is soft and its medium-grade composite contains a high occurrence of unstable components.

Met coke is used in products where a high quality, resilient carbon is required. Met coke, limestone, and iron ore are mixed together in high temperature furnaces where extreme heat causes the chemical bonding, forming iron and steel.
