The coating material may be in the form of powder, ceramic-rod, or wire. Thermal Spray process has advantage over other processes as it is cold process so it never distorts parent material, thickness of coating is controllable with no limitation of job size. Loss of surface properties due to wear, corrosion, abrasion, erosion, cavitation etc. can be avoided in a cost effective manner by thermal spray coating.Coating quality is usually assessed by measuring its porosity, oxide content, macro and micro-hardness, bond strength and surface roughness. Generally, the coating quality increases with increasing particle velocities.
