Working :

• Compressive or tensile load is applied within the elastic range temporarily deforming the rings
• Measurement of deformation by sensitive dial gauge fixed co-axially at the center of proving ring
• Readings of dial gauge readings versus load applied enable operator to find out unknown load by noting dial gauge reading for unknown load
• High elasticity ensures retention of shape on removing load if loaded in elastic limits
