    SUMO Load Lifting Magnets are of robust cast and bolted or fabricated construction designed for handling Solid Slabs, Steel Ingots, Bloom Billets. Pig Iron, Light finished parts, Scrap and gives Maximum reliable, efficient and economical performance in the most arduous service condition.
    Circular Heavy Duty Magnets
    Shells of Star Trace Lifting Magnets are made from high permeability Steel Casting as per IS: 449 (BSS- 1617), properly machined, to provide the most efficient Magnetic Circuit. The periphery of the magnet is heavily ribbed to give added mechanical strength and an increased radiation surface to aid cooling. Center & Outer Poles are machined from high permeability Magnet Steel with Cored recesses arrangement to protect heads of through tensile bolts. The faces of poles from spigot joints in Magnet shell, the outer poles of larger Magnets are skirted for added protection. The pole shoes are easily replaceable.
    Terminal box is designed to ensure protection whilst in operation and are of double entry type enabling the leads from the coils to be sealed in a separate cavity. The outside cable is brought through a gland into this second compartment ensuring no possibility of moisture entering the windings.
    Magnetizing coils for magnet size up to 3000 mm dia is pure annealed wire wound and above these are strip wound. The glass insulation of class H standard with Fibre glass NOMEX tape forming an interlayer makes coil withstand high temperature.
    Bumping plates are of high grade Manganese Steel Casting as per IS - 276 with heavy ribs for added strength. These are clamped in position by the center and outer poles offering complete protection to the coil. The magnets are suspended with three legged string chains made of best quality forged steel terminating in a forged ring. A two core cable is provided for connection with the supply and suitable Insulated plug and socket ensure easy operation.
    Circular Lifting Magnets
    Lifting Magnets combine in their design the wealth of experience gathered over many years with the latest methods of calculating capacities in the light of new scientific advances. All magnetic, mechanical and electrical factors are ideally matched to give exceptional working capacity, economy and reliability in service. Wherever large quantities of Iron and Steel have to be handled, SUMO Lifting Magnets offer many substantial advantages. Optimum dimensioning of magnetic poles and cross sections of iron components, combined with the high magnetic flux produced by the exciter coil ensure outstanding lifting capacity in relation to magnet dead weight. In this way, load-carrying capacity of the crane is used to the full, and a high rate of handling is achieved.
    SUMO Lifting Magnets are of sturdy construction, guaranteeing extreme reliability and safety in toughest working conditions. These circular magnets are intended for all-purpose use, but are suitable in particular for handling bulk material of awkward irregular shape, such as pig iron, scrap, swarf and the like.
    The magnet body is cast of high-grade dynamo steel of high permeability and maximum toughness. The bumping plate of non magnetic, wear resistant high-manganese steel, is generously dimensioned and strongly rib-reinforced. The extra-high inner ring shaped rib closely surrounds the centre pole to safeguard pole edges against wear. The standard three-fall chain suspension with common suspension ring has been dimensioned to suit all normal duty loads. To handle extreme weights, special chains are available at extra cost. Two lugs for guide ropes are fitted as standard. For attachment of the supply cable, magnets are fitted with one solidly constructed cable clamp which effectively prevents cables from being pulled out. For connection of the supply cable the standard model magnet is fitted with metal-clad plug & socket two pole + earth, additionally protected by a cast-steel cover.
    Coils
    Standard exciter coils are wound with Aluminium conductor rated for class 'H' insulation. Coils are cast into their magnet body with a special resin compound of excellent heat conductivity and thus rigidly fixed in position. If required coils can be furnished with copper conductor. Use of special resins loaded with fillers as sealing compound ensures reliable conduction of heat to the magnet surface, maintaining high magnet performance over long, continuous service.
    Duty Factor
    The permissible relative duty factor is 75%/10 mins. or 60%/10 mins. depending on magnet construction and application. Magnets for extra heavy duty or handling of hot materials are available on request.
    Rectangular Lifting Magnet Coil
    The exciter coil, wound with aluminium conductor using high grade insulating materials, is secured in the housing with a special resin compound of excellent heat conductivity.
    Magnet Body
    The magnet body is constructed from high permeability steel and features, together with the cover-plate of non-magnetic wear resistant steel, outstanding strength and robustness. The connection of the feed-in cable is covered under a tilting steel hod, either by means of a terminal box divided into coil section and connection section or by means of a plug-in set. The standard chain suspension consist ring each. If required a two-stranded or four-stranded chain suspension with one suspension ring can be supplied. Load Lifting Magnets offer substantial advantages as compared to mechanical loaders
