Levetiracetam Oral solution
Levetiracetam belongs to a class of medications called anticonvulsants. This medication is generally used alone and along with other medications to control partial-onset seizures (seizures that involve only one part of the brain) in adults, children, and infants 1 month of age or older.
INDICATIONS:
Epileptic seizures
Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy ( A condition characterised by recurrent seizures)
Grand mal seizure
(A type of seizure that involves a loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions.)
MECHANISM OF ACTION: It works by decreasing abnormal excitement in the brain by modulating the release of synaptic neurotransmitters via binding to the synaptic vesicle protein (SV2A) in the brain.
