The Length Gauge or Elongation index of an aggregate is the percentage by weight of particles whose greatest dimension(length) is less than nine-fifths (1.8 times) of their mean dimensions. This test is not applicable to sizes smaller than 6.3mm. it consists of a hard wood base with vertically mounted metal studs as specified in the Indian Standard.
