Lawang Oil

The essential oil of Clove is obtained from the Syzygium aromaticum flower buds, leaves and stem. This analgesic and antimicrobial oil is extremely useful in dentistry, owing to considerable percentage of Eugenol, as it helps in relieving pain of toothache. When mixed with appropriate base oils, Clove Oil also helps in acne and other skin infections. Owing to its significant anti-tyrosinase1 activity, Clove Oil has skin-whitening effect as well. Clove Oil should not be used directly on the Skin or mucous membrane; it is required to be mixed in suitable base (carrier) oil, cream, lotion or water, before being applied on to skin or mucosa.
