Features : There are quite a few varieties of this lovely plant which grows wild in the Mediterranean �L. officinalis is said to be the most odorous. Perched on long stems, the tiny purple �blue flower are covered with star �shaped hairs and the narrow leaves are grey/green. Lavender is extensively cultivated in England, France and Yugoslavia.

Lavender water was popular in the Elizabethan and stuart ages and was the favourite perfume of queen Henrietta Maria, wife of king Charles 1 st. Precautions : Some people with low blood pressure may feel a bit dull and drowsy after using this oil. It is an emmenagogue too, so best avoided in the early months of pregnancy.
Effect Skin : Valuable for most skin conditions since it promotes the growth of new cells and exerts a balancing action on sebum. It has a pronounced healing effect on burns and sunburn and helpful in cases of acne, eczema and psoriasis. also said to heal abscesses, scarring and gangrenous wounds. An effective hair tonic too and may be of service in cases of alopecia.
