As Shivlingam is to Shiva so is Shaligram to Vishnu.The Lakshmi Narayan Shaligram is a rare Shila which is naturally formed ammonite, formed in the river bed of the the kali Gandaki River during the course of time in million of years . A lakshminarayan shaligram has two natural chakra patterns within it , signifying the Lakshmi and the Narayan,these chakras are created by an insect called vajra keet that makes beautiful patterns of vishnu sudarshan chakra in these shilas.This comes in two shapes ,one is in which the upper and the lower shilas can be opened to reveal the chakra pattern within and the other in which the upper and the lower shilas are fixed ,cant open but a broad front is open to reveal the upper shila chakra and the lower shila chakra fused together naturally.The second is the Tunnel type shaligram. It is very auspicious installing a lakshmi narayan shaligram in ones home.Offering tulsi leaves to the shaligram and bathing it regularly with panchgavya or panchamrit ,applying  gopi chandan tilak on shaligarm ,invites the lakshmi narayan's special grace on the worshipper and there is never shortage of virtually any thing  in ones life.
