Contact SupplierL.C. Ferro Manganese, or Low Carbon Ferro Manganese, is an alloy of manganese, iron, and carbon that contains less than 1.5% carbon by weight. It is primarily used as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer in the production of steel and other ferrous alloys, where it can improve the mechanical properties and reduce the levels of impurities in the final product.
L.C. Ferro Manganese is produced by smelting a mixture of manganese ore, iron ore, and coke or other carbonaceous material in an electric arc furnace or a blast furnace. The resulting ferroalloy is then refined to remove impurities and adjust the composition to meet specific customer requirements.
The low carbon content of L.C. Ferro Manganese makes it a preferred deoxidizer and desulfurizer in steel production, as it minimizes the risk of excessive carbon content and resulting brittleness in the final product. It can also improve the hardenability and toughness of the steel, as well as its resistance to wear and abrasion.
In addition to its use in steel production, L.C. Ferro Manganese is also used as an alloying agent in the production of non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum and copper. It can also be used as a source of manganese in the production of fertilizers and other chemicals.
