Kargil is a town in the Kargil district of Ladakh region, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the second largest town in Ladakh after Leh.
Kargil nestled in the Himalayas serves as the headquarters of Kargil district of Ladakh in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. In the past Kargil town has served as an important trade & transit center for the Central-Asian merchants. Currently, Kargil possesses an important place as a center of travel-related activities.
It’s mostly a dry place and the land does not suitable for farming. Greenery can only be seen along the rivers. The sight of the valley and the river slithering through the town is really beautiful. The green patches exuberant with life in the midst of dry mountains is like an oasis. Visitors quench their thirst in this oasis during their trip.
