Sesame (Sesamum indicum) is grown in organic way in hills of the adjoining areas of Myanmar and Mizoram. Sesame grows up to 6 feet in good well drained region. There are two varieties of sesame grown especially in hot conditions in hilly regions differentiated by colours white and black. The seeds are generally useful in bakeries and are pressed for oil extraction. The seeds is rich in protein, oil, carbohydrate and mineral including fiber, iron, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and vitamin A, B, E and is a good booster of immunity.

Because of environmental conditions those grown in hills are supposed to be better not because of altitude alone but because of its ORGANIC farming. Hills are cleared and the fallen plants and bushes are burnt after which the ground is cleared for sesame cultivation. Sesame is cultivated in interior rural areas where no vehicles ply and hence it remains untouched from using fertilizers. Sesame grown here is fully ORGANIC and cultivated manually by tribals in hilly regions. It is a seasonal crop and generally available in winter season. There is no harm if anybody would like to have a lab test to see the content of fertilizers in it.
