General Description
Our highly efficient Pendulum Impact Tester Model MCS-IT 30 is developed for conduction Charpy and Izod Test. Herein, the test methods comply with BS: 131: PART 4-1972 (Amended 15 Aug. 1993) and BSEN: 10045 - 2: 1993.
The Pendulum
Mounted on friction resistance bearings, the pendulum has two starting positions. The lower position is for Izod and the upper one is for Charpy Testing. When released, the pendulum swings down breaking specimen and rendering energy that is absorbed, which is measured as the difference between the height of drop before and after rupture as the test specimen. This is notified from the maximum pointer on the dial scale.
Izod Test
The Izod test piece is fixed upright in Izod support anvils, fixed on the lower part of the machine. Herein, the support is given with machined vertical groove that suits the test piece size. The alien screw and front clamp piece empowers fixing test piece on precise height by the help of Izod setting gauge.
Charpy Test
The Charpy test piece relaxes on alloy steel that supports anvils fixed on the base of the machine that stiffly held in position through alien screws. Herein, the end stopper available for precise and quick placing of test piece in between the supports.
Controls of Pendulum
The Pendulum supported in the starting positions is by a self-resetting latch. The release mechanism is operated by lever. The Pendulum release latch is operated only when this lever is operated.
Strikers & Supporters
Apart from strikers, there is one combined support that is provided for fixing to the base of the machine for Charpy and Izod Tests and Pendulum. New striker is fixed in to its position to achieve charging.
