What is an Ice Lined Refrigerator?
Ice-Lined refrigerators are designed for storage of vaccines, pharmaceutical products, blood bag and samples etc. at a temperature range of 2°C to 8°C. They have a lining of Ice packs hence the name. For long hold-over times should there be a power failure, a PUF insulating material is provided. They can maintain optimal temperature of 2°C to 8°C even at 43°C. They are mainly used in the vaccine cold chain.

What is the difference between ILR and a deep freezer?
An ILR maintains temperature between 2°C to 8°C while a deep freezer maintains it between -15°C to -25°C. Some vaccines like OPV(Oral Polio Vaccine) require deep freezers for their storage rather than an ILR, moreover a deep freezer is also used to freeze/store ice packs.
