Human chorionic gonadotropin is a hormone that contributes to the normal development of eggs in a womans ovaries and stimulates the release of eggs during ovulation. HCG is used to induce ovulation and to treat female infertility. HCG injections are also used to increase sperm counts in men. HCG is mainly used in young boys whose testes do not descend normally into the scrotum. It can be caused by a dysfunction of the pituitary gland.
