HT insulation tape the insulator shape and increase the strike distance. Heat-shrinkable creepage extenders are flexible polymeric skirts, coated internally with a track-resistant mastic for bonding to the insulator. These are available to fit insulators and bushings up to 500kV, with shed diameter 80mm to over 390mm.
