A capacitor is an electronic component that replaced the former condenser. This passive device has two conductors kept apart by an insulator. The static electric field formed between the two conductors due to voltage variation produces mechanical energy.
Capacitors do the function of allowing alternating current to pass through filter network for smooth output of power. This is done by blocking the flow of direct current.
