The impressor is a portable, handheld, indentation hardness tester for soft metals (Al, Cu) & alloys, fibre reinforced plastics (FRP) and other rigid plastics.

Simplicity of the instrument makes it popular and can be operated with no prior experience. It can be used in any position and in any space that will allow clear reach for operator’s hand. Hardness reading is instantly indicated on the dial, which is divided into one hundred graduations. No waiting, pre-loading or separate measurements. Simply exert pressure against the instrument to drive the spring-loaded indenter point into the material. Indenter point must be perpendicular to the surface being tested. On very soft materials, the highest reading should be used since cold flow permits the spring loaded indenter point to continue penetration.

The Impressor weighs only 550 grams. Weight of the entire Impressor package is approx 1.8 kg and comes complete with carrying case, calibration wrench, leg and two spare indenter points. Two test pieces with calibration certificate are also supplied with the package.

    Three models are available:

    • 934-1 for soft metals such as aluminum and its alloys, brass, copper, and some of the harder plastics and fiberglass.
    • 935 for the softer plastics and very soft metals.
    • 936 for extremely soft materials such as lead, linoleum and leather.
