Plantgene Seeds LLP undertakes contract production of hybrid vegetable seeds for overseas customers. Our capabilities combined with low-cost production make this proposition attractive. With a diverse range of agro-climatic zones in India, it is possible to produce seed almost round the year.
We do contract production for numerous customers in the US, South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.
Domestically, the company develops and produces a full line of hybrid field seed for marketing within India.
In addition, we assist international field crop companies in research and nursery work, particularly in corn, sunflower and sorghum. This work includes crossing, characterization, line purification, inbred multiplication, parent seed production, F1 pilot and commercial seed production. With two seasons a year, we organize season and counter-season nurseries for several overseas companies who benefit from our low-cost framework.
Incorporated in 2003, the company’s research and production activities are located largely around the southern Indian cities of Hyderabad and Bangalore, while the corporate office is in Gurgaon – a suburb of New Delhi.
Our Research and Development program has been formally approved and recognized by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Plantgene and Urmatt (http://www.urmatt.com) have a collaboration for certified organic vegetable seed production in northern Thailand. With an employee base of 2000 farmer families and 20,000 hectares under management, Urmatt is the leading organic cultivation group in Thailand. MANAGEMENT
Plantgene is led by Madan Khunnah. A Chartered Accountant and MBA (USA) with more than 30 years of experience in the seed industry, he was Country Manager/CEO (India) for several years with Pioneer Hi-Bred prior to his association with the PLANTGENE brand.
