The plate is often used to hold offerings such as flowers, fruits, and incense during puja (worship) and is considered auspicious for use in religious ceremonies. The plate may also include a small lamp, a diya, that is lit during the ceremony. The pooja plate is considered auspicious and is a symbol of the blessings and offerings being made to the deity during the puja ceremony.
A brass pooja plate, also known as a thali, is a traditional Indian plate used for religious and ceremonial purposes. The plate is usually made of brass and is used to hold various items during prayer or pooja, such as flowers, fruits, and other offerings to the gods. The plate typically has a shallow dish shape with a raised rim, and may also have decorative designs or engravings on the surface. The use of brass for the plate is significant as it is a metal that is believed to have purifying properties, making it ideal for religious rituals.
During pooja, the plate is placed on an altar or puja table, and various items such as flowers, fruits, incense, and other offerings are placed on it. The plate is often accompanied by other pooja items such as a lamp, bell, and conch shell. The brass pooja plate is also commonly used in Hindu weddings, where it is filled with a variety of items such as sweets, fruits, and money as part of the ceremony.
