Contact SupplierWe are a prominent Manufacturer and Supplier of Flame Proof Canvas, which when exposed to fire does not add to the fire spread and thus is extremely safe. Flame Proof Canvas effectively blocks fire in case the source of fire emanates from the outside. Manufactured using fire retardant material, our exclusive range of Flame Proof Canvas remains superficial to varying weather conditions and unprecedented fire breakouts. These fabrics are made with BS : 3119 & BS : 3120 standards.
Cobra Flame Proof Canvas, when exposed to fire only chars and does not spread fire. It also effectively retards penetration of fire in case of fire emanating from outside.
Present Methods
Presently grey canvas is rendered flame retardant by applying fire retardant paints by brush which makes the canvas stiff. The flame proofing. Properties achieved with FR paints are not uniform as it is not possible to ensure even application by brush. Also due to sizing of canvas, the paint film does not impregnate into it and thus remains superficial. On the whole, the process in unsatisfactory and obsolete besides being uneconomical as it involves carrying dual inventory of canvas and FR paints.
Recently, fire retardant canvas has been made using imported yarn. However, its high cost has been a factor in limiting its wider use.
Product Availability
Cobra Flame Proof Canvas (FPC) is available :
As FPC – 500, FPC - 700 etc. The sufix denoting the nomical weight per square meter of finished product.
As wash resistant (durable) and non-wash-resistant. The flame proofing properties of wash resistant canvas remain unaffected by water washing and as such, can be used outdoors while nonwahs resistant canvas can be used indoors only.
While, wash resistant canvas is available in off white, non-wah resistant canvas is available only in natural dull white color.
Flame proof canvas is available in standard lengths of 40 meters (Appx.) and standard width of 91cm (nominal).
Fiber Content
The content of a fabric is the most important factor in determining its suitability for a flame retardent fire finish. There are three categories of fiber content :
100% Natural Fibers
100% Synthetic Fibers
Blends
Natural Fibers : In general, natural fiber fabrics are the "Best Choice" when choosing a fabric to be flame retarded. Natural fibers (cotton, silk, linen, wool etc.) absorb the flame retardant readily and can be treated to meet the most stringent flammability standards.
Synthetic Fibers : Synthetic fibers are more difficult to treat for flame retardancy. Acrylics, acetates, nylons and polypropylene fabrics are not recommended for drapery use. These fibers are non-absorbent which causes the chemical to remain on the surface of the fabric.
Belends : Most of the fabrics we treat are blends of two or more fibers. The more natural the fiber in the blend, the better results can be expected. Higher concentrations of synthetic fibers make it neccessary to add more chemical to meet the flammability standard. Some blends cannot be treated to meet a vertical test.
