Test conducted as per api standards(api 607 v edition and api 6fa) is complete with state-of-art instrumentation interfaced to pc. The system comprises of dedicated data logger for simultaneous reading of temperature and sends data to pc for displaying, report generation and storing.
Test parameters are automatically selected as per standard. For example number of thermocouples to be connected, and location of thermocouples and recording and calculation methods are automatically .
Api (american petroleum institute) has stringent requirements to qualify the quarter turn valves for fire safe certification.
Test procedure:
the test involves a valve under operating condition put on fire up to 11000 c for 30 minutes. Microcontroller based instrument measures temperature values at seven locations in the valve in the prescribed periodicity. instrument displays the temperature on each channel. At the end of the test various leakage values are entered in pc program and calculations and reports are performed by the program.
The standards specify different configurations of the test for different pressure class and valve sizes. Software automatically chooses the correct configuration and corresponding calculation methods for each combinations, thus simplifying the conduct of the test.
