Fin Body is made from extruded Aluminum Alloy Rod in CNC M/c. It has 4 (four) nos. Stabiliser blades made of steel, one glass fibre ring, Stop made of Aluminum and Axle Pin alongwith other spare parts.
Fin Assy is assembled at the base of the Shell Body, 125mm HE with threads applied with Poly Sulphide Sealant. The Fins ( Stab Blades ) remain in folded position.
Function of Shell :
As the shell moves forward in the Barrel due to propellant gas pressure, the ‘stop’ gets sheared under the action of inertia force ( set back force ). The moulded ring also gets disintegrated . Thus the fins become free to open up. As soon as the shell leaves the barrel, the fins rotate through 90 degrees and are retained in that position by the counter air flow providing stability to the shell during flight. As the shell encounters an obstacle, the fuze functions detonating main bursting charge in the shell.
