Fig is an important tree, because degraded forest land can be used for its cultivation, and its nutritious fruit solves problem of malnutrition and deficiencies in children and adults.Figs have the highest amount of calcium of any fruit, and 100g (3.5 oz) of dried figs contain 16% of the daily recommended amount of calcium needed for an adult. They are also rich in other nutrients, as well as fiber. Just 3 Figs give enough fiber needed for an adult's daily diet .

Fig can also be considered a good forestry product, as it provides all round year nutrition to wild animals, food and shelter for birds and generates employment among locals and tribal people. Fig trees are being given focus used as minor trees in forests all over the world for these and soil conservation measures as well.

We are currently producing tissue culture plants of variety Poona Red aka Puna Red, having red flesh and good keeping quality. We can also supply variety Dinkar and Deanna.

Income generation from Fig cultivation starts from 2nd year itself up to 35 years, and has good potential for value addition and processing.
